Next Guild Meeting

From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the Albany, Oregon Public Library Main building (2450 14th Avenue SE) we will host a free Halloween celebration for the public, with several activities going on simultaneously at stations throughout the big meeting room. We plan to offer games, skits, and other interactive activities with puppets - whatever our guild members want to provide for a joyous celebration of puppetry arts for kids and adults. There are plenty of tables and chairs, so come in costume and bring whatever puppet-related activity you would like to share with the attendees.

At 12:30 p.m. we will drive over the Willamette River bridge to north Albany to gather together for food and drink at The Barn at Hickory Station (640 Hickory St. NW) This is a large establishment with indoor and outdoor seating for a hub of 14 food trucks (Thai, Mexican, Greek, Salvadoran, Hawaiian, barbecue, ice cream and desserts, sushi, crab boils, Kento hibachi, hot dogs, chicken, and Philly's) and a taproom (ales, ciders, wines, kombucha, root beer). The private meeting room was already booked for October 26, so we will choose a cluster of tables either outside or inside to enjoy some great food and fun company together.

Hope you will join us for one or both events - RSVP please and bring a guest or two. Parking is free but limited, so we recommend car-pooling if possible. Online attendance available on request.

*The Lane County (Eugene, Oregon) Fair
on Saturday, July 24 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*The Western Oregon Exposition (Cottage Grove)
on Saturday, August 21 - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The Willamette Valley Puppeteers, a chartered Guild of Puppeteers of America, serves western and southern Oregon and a large surrounding area to bring together all persons interested in puppetry to share experiences, skills, and resources; to promote excellence in puppetry; and to enhance its public image as a performing art and an educational or therapeutic tool.

The Guild meets once a month (although we sometimes skip a few months due to holidays or members' summer vacations) to enjoy the fellowship of other puppeteers and to plan events such as performances and workshops for members and for the public. Locations, dates, time, and nature of meetings and other activities are determined by the members. There are no dues to pay, and anyone interested in any aspect of puppetry is invited to join - just attend a meeting or contact us by e-mail or telephone. Members receive a newsletter and other information by e-mail. Those who are unable to attend meetings in western Oregon are invited to participate as e-members. Members are invited to post a list of their upcoming public performances or a link to their puppetry-related website on our "Events and Artists" page, at no charge.
